I’m going to post this incident on both my new blog and my old one.

At the East Ohio annual conference, there is a custom that if there is a tie on a plurality ballot for electing delegates to general conference or jurisdictional conference, the result is decided by the Biblical custom of drawing lots. This happened at this annual conference.

There was a tie between two clergy candidates, Paul White, a progressive*, and a “bad news” right-wing type. The lot fell on the progressive candidate, resulting in a clergy delegation to General Conference that is decidedly progressive. If that does not show that the Spirit is with us, I don’t know what does.

Also, we got a majority on a pro-gay petition opening membership to all. Not the 2/3rds needed to send it on, but better then we have done.

Highlights of Annual Conference for me also included nearly drowning in Lake Erie; I’m not as good a swimmer as I used to be. 24 is father from 16 then I thought. Still, it was nice to get in the water. Also, seeing the mayflies come in was fun, especially since someone told me that it was proof that Lake Erie was pure and clean again.

*He’s also wore a 3 piece suit in a un-airconditioned auditorium. I don’t understand how he does it. I wore beach clothes all week.

Hi

I used to blog at the-methotaku.livejournal.com. Now I'm moveing to Blogger, because I have matured and I want to start over with a blog purely dedicated to Christian items. I'll still update the other blog with lighter, slice of life stuff, rather like Bad Methodist does with hers. I also have a new anime blog which I will keep entirely separate from this one.

I'm a student at MTSO, and pastor of Smithville UMC. There's another pastor of a different Smithville UMC who also blogs, which I hope will not cause confusion!
